A new chapter for the Amsterdam 750 flags

For a full year, they brought colour to the city during Amsterdam’s 750th birthday celebrations. You could spot them everywhere: along the canals, at major events and throughout the neighbourhoods. Now that the anniversary year has come to an end, the flags have finished their original job. Transformed into a one-of-a-kind shopper, they are ready for a new chapter. Allowing Amsterdam 750 to live on, quite literally, in your hands.

From flag to shopper

After an event, flags are usually thrown away. What a waste. Amsterdam 750 thought so too. That is why we were given the opportunity to turn them into a limited collection of products, including this shopper. Thanks to the recognisable colours and graphic patterns of the flags, we were able to create bags as vivid as the city itself. And because every flag is different, no two shoppers are the same. As a tribute to Amsterdam 750, the bag features a subtle “Amsterdam 750” label.

Whether you are heading to the gym, doing groceries or returning deposit bottles: this shopper can handle it. Finished? Fold it up and it slips easily into your jacket pocket. Carry it comfortably by hand or over your shoulder.

Amsterdam’s birthday

Amsterdam celebrated its 750th birthday for an entire year. A jubilee full of stories, local initiatives and major events that brought the whole city to life. The celebrations may be over, but the memories remain. A special year in which Amsterdam reflected on its history and looked ahead to the future.

Limited by the number of flags
