Over 10 years ago, a young boy made his pocket money working the markets of Amsterdam. That’s where he first encountered market tarps. Years later, he came up with the idea to give new life to those old market tarps. The UNBEGUN adventure had officially begun.
In a world of waste, there’s plenty of material to upcycle. Strong, sturdy material that’s weathered every storm imaginable. Or beautiful material left discarded on the factory floor, never to be used. Whether they’ve seen everything or nothing at all, at UNBEGUN, we turn these materials into laptop sleeves, bags and more. Unabashedly Amsterdam products, each with a distinct identity. Every piece that comes in has its own story. Its own quirks. From tent cloth to transport tarp.
HOW WE MAKE IT
We remove any nails or spikes from the material. It is washed and thoroughly scrubbed. Then we cut the material to size. Each piece is slightly different because they are all unique. That's when our seamstresses, like Maartje, come into action. Maartje, a former theater costume designer, crafts UNBEGUN accessories in her studio entirely by hand.
